Introduction

Teaching for all levels – from first turns to steep skiing
At Patagoniatiptop, we believe good skiing is not about pushing harder, it’s about skiing smarter. And that applies to every level.
If you are a beginner or returning to skiing, we start where you are comfortable. Wide, gentle slopes where you can learn without stress. We focus on balance, confidence and that first feeling of gliding, not on complicated theory. With video, you see your own progress at the end of the session.
If you are an intermediate skier, you can already ski blue and red runs but want more control, more flow and less effort. This is where most skiers get stuck. We work on your carving, short turns, moguls and piste performance. We analyze your technique on video and fix the 2-3 key points that make the biggest difference. You will feel it the same day.
If you are an advanced and expert skier, Chamonix is your playground. We teach what most ski schools don’t:
Off-piste & Powder skiing: Technique for deep snow, terrain reading, line choice.
Steep skiing: Tactics and technique for 35°+ slopes, like you need in Grands Montets.
Telemark: From the basic telemark position to dynamic, carved telemark turns on and off-piste.
Ski Touring Intro: Skinning, kick turns, avalanche safety basics, and skiing with a backpack in unprepared snow.
Private means private.
You book us for yourself, or for your own private group of up to 6 people with a similar level – family, friends or kids. This way we can choose the perfect ski area for the day.
Lessons in English, French, German and Spanish.

Itinerary and program

Full day private teaching

Good on-piste skiing is not about pushing harder. It’s about balance, timing and trust in your skis.
Whether it’s your first day in Le Tour or you want to carve like a racer in Brévent-Flégère, we teach where you are. No standard program, no following a group.
We work on 2-3 key points that make the biggest difference – and we show you on video. You see your progress the same day.

Private for 1 to 6 people at the same level – family, friends or just you. We pick you up at your hotel and choose the best ski area for your level and the conditions.

English, German, French, Spanish

Full Day Private Lesson – 09:00 to 16:00 [our most booked], this is how a day could look like:

08:30 – 08:50 | Hotel pickup
We pick you up at your hotel or chalet in the Chamonix Valley. On the drive we check your goals for the day and choose the best ski area – Brévent for sun and views, Flégère for fresh snow, Balme for progression, Grands Montets for challenge, Les Houches for trees.

09:00 – 09:30 | Warm-up & Check
Easy first runs. We watch your skiing, check equipment and levels. If you are a private group of up to 6, we find a common pace.

09:30 – 12:00 | Technique block 1 – On-piste, Off-piste, Telemark, Touring or Steep Skiing
Focused coaching. We work on 2-3 key points only – balance, turn initiation, pole plant, telemark position, skinning technique. We film short video sequences so you can see what we mean. Lots of mileage, little standing around.

12:00 – 13:00 | Lunch break – together or on your own
We can show you a good mountain restaurant or use the time for a quick video review on the phone. Time to recharge.

13:00 – 15:30 | Technique block 2 – Put it into terrain
Now we take what we worked on in the morning into more varied terrain. Powder next to the piste, moguls, steeper slopes, first touring skins or telemark in deeper snow – depending on your level and what you booked.

15:30 – 16:00 | Video review & plan for tomorrow
Last run down, then we review your videos from the day. You get the videos on your phone. We give you 2 clear exercises to take away and make a plan if you have more days booked.

16:00 | Return to Chamonix
We bring you back to your hotel.

Half Day private teaching

Half Day Private Lesson – 09:00 to 12:00 OR 13:00 to 16:00

Half days are ideal to combine: On-piste in the morning, Off-piste Intro in the afternoon the next day.

Off piste teaching

Off-piste is why you come to Chamonix. But powder is a different technique.
We teach you how to float instead of pushing, how to use terrain, how to read the snow and stay safe. We start safe and easy – in fresh snow right next to the piste in Brévent, Flégère or Balme – so you build confidence without stress.
Then we take it further: tree skiing in Vallorcine, bowls and gullies, moguls and steeper terrain when you’re ready. Every run is chosen for your level and the day’s avalanche bulletin.
Private for 1 to 6 friends/family at the same level. With video analysis so you see your progress. And the perfect preparation for the Vallée Blanche.

Full Day Off-Piste (09:00-16:00):

08:30 Pickup + avalanche gear check (transceiver, shovel, probe)
09:00 Piste warm-up to check level
09:30-11:30 Powder fundamentals next to the pistes – float, speed, terrain reading + video
11:30 Avalanche Basics – companion rescue & decision making right on the mountain
12:00 – 13.00: Lunch break, we’re happy to take you to a nice local mountain hut or restaurant for lunch
13:00-15:30 Line choice – technic improvement
15:30 Video review – you get the videos + Vallée Blanche check if you’re ready and interested

Half Day Intro available for first-timers and confident red-run skiers.

Telemark teaching

Telemark Skiing in Chamonix – The Original Freeheel Turn

Telemark is not old school. It’s the most elegant way to ski the mountain.
One moment you carve, the next you drop the knee and flow. It’s skiing in its most natural form – free heel, free mind. In Chamonix it makes perfect sense. Long runs, huge vertical, from perfectly groomed Brévent to powder fields in Balme, trees in Vallorcine and moguls in Grands Montets.

At Patagoniatiptop we teach modern telemark. Not survival telemark from the 90s. Dynamic, stable, powerful and efficient. Low enough to be elegant, high enough to be strong all day.

For whom?
Never tried telemark? Perfect. If you can ski parallel on blue and red runs on alpine skis, you can start telemark. We provide the technique, we can arrange the equipment.

Already telemarking? We take you off-piste, into powder, moguls and steep terrain. We work with video – you finally see your lead change, your balance, your position.

Telemark touring? We combine freeheel with skins – the most beautiful way to tour around Chamonix.

Private means private. Just you, or your own private group of up to 6 at a similar level.

Requirement: Comfortable parallel turns on red piste on alpine skis to start telemark. For advanced off-piste telemark: confident on black piste.

Ski touring teaching

Ski Touring Intro in Chamonix – Your First Skins

From Piste to Backcountry
Ski touring is freedom. The quiet of the skin track in the morning, your own line down, no lift queues. Around Chamonix there are perfect, safe intro tours that feel like real adventure without being extreme.
Our Ski Touring Intro is for alpine skiers who want to go beyond the piste. No previous touring experience needed.

What you learn:
It’s more than just walking up. We teach you how to put skins on efficiently, how to walk with rhythm and save energy, how to do kick turns on steep traverses, how to read the terrain and avalanche bulletin, and how to ski with a backpack in unprepared snow. Safety first, always.

We start in easy terrain – Balme and Les Houches have gentle, safe touring slopes with stunning Mont Blanc views. First ascent is 300-400m vertical, at your pace. Then a descent where we coach off piste technique. Second ascent we go a bit further, with a small companion rescue training on the way.

For whom?
You should be a confident red-run skier and have moderate fitness for 2-3 hours of walking (400-600m ascent). We go at your pace. No race.

Private for 1 to 6 people – family, friends, same fitness level. We provide coaching, video analysis and hotel pickup.
Touring skis, skins, boots and avalanche equipment (transceiver, shovel, probe) can be rented – just tell us.

This is your gateway to the Vallée Blanche, to spring tours in the Aiguilles Rouges, to a lifetime of touring.
